Good synopsis! Yes, I think Berlin has a great blend of mainstream and alternative attractions. It is appealing for all sorts of people - go and enjoy the glitzy government quarters or the alternative and artsy district. If you look at some statistics - for example http://www.germany-statistics.com/, it shows that tourism in Berlin is skyrocketing...it shows the city is doing something right. One point I would disagree on however is the public transport. The S-bahn is not entirely reliable but in general, it is a very efficient transport system.

The Circus! circus-berlin.deIt's a hstoel/hotel. My boyfriend and I stayed in one of their private rooms for 48 euros a night, but a single goes for only 32 euros. It has showers down the hall, but theyre also very private. If you want your own bathroom, they have hotel style rooms for 45 single, 60 double and they have apartment rooms w/kitchens in them for a little more. It's a great hstoel! Very clean, tons of services, good breakfast, incredibly helpful staff I highly recommend them.
