WUNDERBAR, this is straight from my heart ….
….have just returned from WE in the cold north of Germany, with my English husband in tow. We did a quick visit to Lueneburg, which was ABSOLUTELY amazing. What history and what architecture – lovely and helpful people, great food at good prices and of course everybody is trying their very best to speak to my husband who (surprise, surprise) does not excell at speaking German. Went on to Buxtehude – another medieval gem which we know well. A good time was had from beginning to end – Hamburg airport does not disappoint either.

So let’s go and have a wunderbar time ….

As a serviceman I spent 8 years in Germany. As well as the places I was posted to I also travelled a great deal around what was then West Germany and found that it was a wonderful place to be. I still go back a couple of times a year to visit old haunts.

Great article!

I haven’t seen any of these new pro-German publications yet (following the links now), but I’m pleasantly surprised. Many UK friends have visited Germany, sometimes repeatedly, so to see the press finally jump on the bandwagon of what avid travellers have said for years is interesting. Like you, I find it rather amusing. But in a nice way… :-)

By the way, we just visited Freiburg a month ago and my British husband loved it. Definitely going back!
