German Holidays: Rostock, surprise package on the Baltic

This river port city, and former stronghold of the Hanseatic League, has recovered well from a difficult 20th century. These days it is a cobbled, eminently walkable place which welcomes a regular stream of international visitors from ferries and cruise ships.
